Welcome to another MetaBrainz Monday Meeting!
Reviews
mrkomododragon:
[mailed in] This week, I primarily worked on revising my ListenBrainz proposal for integrating events from MB. I spent some time incorporating feedback and gaining a deeper understanding of the codebase of ListenBrainz to make the proposal match the existing components and structure.
I hope to find more PRs to work on and contributing more to this project in the coming weeks.

[mailed in] i was out for the last week and a half; got to see a cool concert & great movie, visit family, and some other nice things : )
after returning, i’ve continued working with staff on business continuity efforts, mostly in our google workspace, but of course there’s plenty more to do elsewhere too
Gopal7387:
[Gopal] This week I worked on finishing all the contributions before the deadline for the GSoC.
I made some changes to the Art Creator. I fixed the problems with the caption and color options.
I fixed the issues that the reviewers pointed out such as the text clipping and the color picker compatibility.I also fixed the problem with the TypeScript CI failure.
Now all the checks are okay. I am waiting for the final review of the PR #3634 for the issue LB-1651.
[LB-1651 : Add release/listen text options to art creator/stats art generator]
I still have to finish the PR #3604 for the issue LB-1942.
[LB-1942 : Order of albums on artist page should read left to right then down]
I am waiting for someone to review it. and i also submitted my Google Summer of Code proposal for the Playlists Sorting and Organisation.
I made a post about it on the forum on March 19.
After that my mentor asked me some follow up questions on the forum. I answered them with the correct information, from the codebase.
I want to thank aerozol monkey and ansh for helping me this week.
outsidecontext:
Not so much from Picard side last week. I started working on ListenBrainz integration for the built-in player, also some forum support.
But I worked on python-discid, doing some code modernization and documentation updates. python-discid 1.4 got releaded today, see the blog post .
Talking about libdiscid, I woul appreciate some review on [libdiscid PR: Add DISCID_USE_HTTPS build flag to build with https URL support ]. Especially from someone familiar with cmake and/or autotools.
Oh, and next Monday I won’t be available
uzman2406:
[Uzma Nayab] This week, I focused on refining my GSoC proposal in depth like revisiting it multiple times to improve clarity, structure, and details… Thanks to the mentors ansh and monkey for their valuable feedback.
I also worked on the beta server toggle button LB-1611 and opened a PR for it.
[LB-1611 : Beta toggle/switch]
Additionally, I reported a UI issue LB-1976 where the options menu behaves inconsistently compared to the list view, affecting its layout and overall user experience.
[LB-1976 : Options menu layout breaks/wraps incorrectly in grid view]
atharv002:
[Atharv] Last week I started working on BB-876. Currently, there is no way to specify the script for titles like whether a title is in Latin, Cyrillic or Devanagari. I am working on adding a script table similar to the language table along with a script dropdown next to the language field in the entity editor. I will open a PR this week
[BB-876 : Script option for languages/titles]
I also submitted my proposal after feedback from lucifer
failure_san:
[failure] last Saturday my system kinda broke, and i had to revert it back, and somehow this included my actual files; and i was writing my proposal in Obsidian, and welp, it’s not saved in the cloud (my hatred for the cloud has come to bite me in the ass)
and it’s mostly just been rewriting my proposal for the last twoish days
i am probably gonna post the draft by the end of the day to meet the deadline and keep editing, i suppose
'tis what it is : )
Shreshth:
[Shreshth Sharma] Hi everyone! Hope you’re all doing great. Last week, I refined my proposal , went deeper into the codebase, and addressed the feedback and questions Ansh left. It’s fully updated and submitted now! Going forward, I’m planning to hunt down some new issues once the proposal deadline passes so I can keep contributing and improving things. : )
Apart from work, went on a hike trip with a few friends from college and it was a blast
teayah:
[teayahx] in the past week i posted my proposal and edited it again earlier today, and i also fixed something in a pr (3645) i had opened a bit before. but it also has been busy otherwise and i barely had room to breathe for a while and not atleast until neeext week :,)
haris:
Worked on LB-1884, made some commits to it, it still needs work for local instances. Worked a lot on the SoC proposal , anxiously checking for feedback everyday lol, finally submitted it on the portal as well. Also worked on aerozol’s beautiful mockups for LB-1973, very fun stuff. Thought it should be done quickly since it will be required for the events page. Also I remember seeing somewhere that you have to open a pr related to your SoC project. I guess it kinda counts…? Anyways, looked at some PRs as well. Fucked up my sleep schedule again :’)
[LB-1884 : Import starred/loved songs from Navidrome]
[LB-1973 : Fix the scroll-bar on “Fresh releases” page]
Summit dates
@ansh mentions that GSoC summit may be October as well. It seems it’s inconsistent when exactly - GSoC summit dates are usually announced in May. @yvanzo will email our contacts at GSoC to see if they know a date, and we will re-confirm the dates (12-16) based on the reply (if any).
