Requests for Votes Thread

Why, just why does every thorough voting session on MB have to end down these rabbit holes? :weary:

I could use some votes on these two release group merges that should be obvious enough:

After voting against them they attempted to push through a merge of their own:
https://musicbrainz.org/edit/96114159

Which was then cancelled only for it to be entered by a different account mere minutes later on whose edit they could vote:
https://musicbrainz.org/edit/96164203

From the looks of it it’s probably a sockpuppet and I would’ve long reported this but since my other reports of the past 2 weeks for spammers, vandals, etc. were apparently not handled I don’t want to take chances.

I don’t want a quick merge but opinions:

The images attached to the NL release are fine (made & printed in Holland), those from the UK&Europe release show a Made in Italy/Printed in Holland release.
Both Discogs relationships belong to the same release (only difference is mould SIDs or not)

An alternative without wasting CAA capacity would be to keep both releases and link the UK&Europe release to this Discogs release: Massive Attack – Protection (1994, CD) - Discogs, but that’s probably not what was initially intended (If it’s possible to say something like that for a historic release with twists and merges - see history  )

Hello there,
This is for people who know Opeth album called In Cauda Venenum.
There are Swedish and English versions of the songs, only the vocal tracks change.
There is the English versions disc and the Swedish versions disc.

Each of these discs start with an instrumental track, I think it is the same.

When I listen to those two tracks, or compare them visually and switching tracks audibly in Audacity, for me, they are the same.

Please review my Edit #96239039 - Merge recordings, maybe I’m wrong!

Livets trädgård and Garden of Earthly Delights are the Swedish and English titles.

PS. I am doing the same with the 5.1 mixes: Edit #96248296 - Merge recordings

Hoping for others to make sure I did this right and was correct that it should be merged.

Looks fine. But if you are unsure about when merging recordings is justified here is a handy list I use of good reasons to merge:

  1. Same recording name and artist
  2. Similar duration (within 5 seconds)
  3. Two or more recordings sharing an AcoustID (or several)
  4. Two or more recordings sharing an ISRC
  5. Various same year editions of the same album.
  6. Various editions of the same album with no reasons to suspect clean version, remix, new recording or whatnot.
  7. Same per compilation liner notes (e.g. when the compilation says “From the album…”)
  8. Citation of curated discographies either online or in printed form
  9. I have ear checked all tracks for these 2 recordings.

This release is missing a song

Edit #96081054 - MusicBrainz has been open in “About to close” state for a long time. Is it bugged?

Looks like it was fixed or applied automatically. I noticed this one (also submitted on 1/14) a few hours ago, Edit #96073504 - Merge artists.

@chaban removed the annotation from the target in this edit, fixing the issue (known bug) and causing the edit to go through

Could someone with superpowers have a look at this edit ? Opened 2023-01-16, 3 yes votes and now stuck as “about to close” for over a week :frowning:

Fixed! Thanks @chaban

I missed the last track on this release last week, now I need to apply discid and cannot. Can I get some votes. Edit #96653792 - MusicBrainz

Thanks! DiscId applied.

Got the “about to close” issue. Anything I can try? No disambigs, and just deleted the annotations.

It’s a 5-0 merge from the 16th Jan.

Wait until the next full hour. That’s when modbot applies edits

Thanks. It has gone through now. Was it the two old 2006 annotations blocking it then?

Can someone take a look at these edits/mergers so they’re handled correctly:
Edit #96772646 - MusicBrainz
Edit #96772628 - MusicBrainz

Other user and I started the same merger around the same time but inverted.
I’m not sure but my guess is that the release groups should be merged into the Single as other anime OP/ED’s are also not marked as “Single + Soundtrack”. For example:
Release group “KICK BACK” by 米津玄師 - MusicBrainz
Release group “Avid / Hands Up to the Sky” by SawanoHiroyuki[nZk] - MusicBrainz

Can i get some votes on this so i can quickly change this series from an RG to a Release series type

https://beta.musicbrainz.org/series/de9342e9-d059-4b07-8a73-38d67c2acf9f/open_edits

Reasoning is that the Fontana Special series can sometimes be of existing albums, or albums later reissued but not under Fontana or the series name
