Requests for Votes Thread

Another similar one, this time crediting Nintendo Co., Ltd. in the artist field.

The full discussion, and links to the edits in question, are in this thread:

Japanese title on spine/obi/label website vs Latin title printed in more places on physical release (front cover/CDs/booklet), would like more input from editors that usually edit Japanese releases.

Three related no votes without a note. Maybe the edits are wrong… but would prefer if they don’t fail without a note from someone explaining why they think they are wrong. (Which is what happens with 1 yes + 1 no, if I am not mistaken.)

Trying to get a third vote on Bill’s edit so I can do some work on it.

EDIT:

Thanks, that gets the release done through track 28.

I just added the last two (and final) tracks and could use three votes to get it cleared sooner.

Seeking opinions about how to handle re-credited streaming releases here (and on all the related edits).

And yes, I managed to consistently misspell “Verses GT” as “Versus GT” in all my edit notes there. :-/

Hi all,

I’m looking for votes or approval of https://musicbrainz.org/edit/137477105 in order to move an IPI code from the artist name Prince Jammy - MusicBrainz to the artist’s legal name, Lloyd James - MusicBrainz. This is because of a warning I received from modbot. If it’s actually preferable to add IPIs to artist aliases, please say so in the edit notes and I’ll cancel the edit.

Could I get some votes on Edit #137512691 - MusicBrainz ? Or maybe even an auto merge? I am cleaning up a bungled release with input from the original editor. That edit gets most of the way to a usable release, but I suspect that more edits will be necessary.

Thank you!

Hello, I’d like other editors to have a look at a series of edits on works by the user JMO Publishing. We have been disagreeing with each other on edits that I believe to be incorrect, such as removing old publishers from work instead of marking them deprecated and following the artist credit format of PROs instead of booklets (hence favoring legal names in all-capitals instead of artist names). I have told them that we generally follow artistic intent. I believe we don’t follow PRO credits blindly because some people are listed as authors just to collect royalties without actually contributing to the work.

Yes, the majority consensus in previous discussions is to follow booklets/artist intent, not legal/financial contracts:

Totally agree, but didn’t feel like arguing with someone’s legal department. Looking at some of their other edits it gets out of hand pretty quickly.

I find it strange how some people can come to a long standing database, with guidelines to read and follow, but instead try and force their view of the world on the perfectly good database.

It is all the Capitals that are quite amazing. ( example: Song “Arcane Lifeforce Mysteria” - MusicBrainz ) There really is no reason for capitals. And deleting of historic data. There is so much of a mess there it is hard to know where to start. Attempt to talk to them and they drown you in words and ignore what you say: Edit #137078563 - MusicBrainz

I went and added a bunch of edits up to a vote. I agree, the whole “Musicbrainz MUST use rights societies over booklets” command is a little much for some editor to state. How do we even know who they are? Then say they are one of the composers, but not who is odd. But also, all caps is annoying.

people please help me with my open edits, I would like to know what community thinks about this, I just want to preserve the original title, my open edits it’s all about deltarune and undertale soundtracks, do the commas and colons belong in here, earlier they didn’t used to be there then a fellow editor added them stating that it was according to MB naming guidelines.

The recording date and venue match but there is an additional cellist on one of the recordings which would make six players in a string quintet. I think there may be an incorrect credit.

Sure! Removed the incorrect cellist according to the linked Discogs data.

I spotted a (likely) problematic editing pattern, but I would like some more opinions before deciding how to deal with it: see discussion here and full list of relevant edits here.

Your list of relevant edits doesn’t work

Oops! Fixed, thanks.

can I get some votes or auto-editors here, I have made a few edits for a lot of releases and I would highly appreciate if someone could vote or apply them if they are an auto-editor.

Thanks!
