Essentially it’s a matter of deciding whether to use U+00B0 “Degree Sign” (°) or U+00BA “Masculine Ordinal Indicator” (º) or maybe even U+2116 “Numero Sign” (№).

Masculine something to indicate number is not correct IMO. Better stay with most frequent mistake DEGREE in this case.
We should IMO use NUMERO character or please see the previous topic about it and the resulting proposal below.
