not much, fixing servers with the help of hetzner and the team, we had yet another cpu fan failure
and we have serge which is rebooting by itself
on it atm with @bitmap to prepare a replacement
there’s also prince, which has temperature alerts too (likely the same batch of bad fans)
we’ll proceed after serge fix
apart that, usual upgrades / supervision / tuning / graphs etc
Also read a lot of docs about redis sentinel

Past week, I mainly worked on React migration, pursued reviewing @bitmap’s PR (which features components’ hydration), along with working on UI for spam reports.
I finished converting Bandcamp URLs to HTTPS and converted 20K VGMdb URLs in the same way.
I reviewed @Freso’s bot that features automated cleanup of some URLs.
Thanks also to @Rotab for his pull request to display Juno Download links.

I worked on fixing/cleaning up an older PR from spellew to convert some of our statistics pages to react
also converted the event search results page to react, will submit a pr now
made a lot of progress on the i18n issues in my homepage PR
other than that, just did a bit of code review

Added the Danso, cousin to Tungso, edited the xiao a little and added and edited aliases for it as well.
Edit a bit more https://musicbrainz.org/instrument/be34e4e5-6e77-46f5-ab56-c9641d3da213/recordings?page=7 but this is easy for others to do as well.
Finally added the Sasano!
Improved some instruments here and there.

This week were filled with “Oh, this is what I have to do” gsoc moments we finally did the initial setup for the design system.
@bitmap and @samj1912 were there to cheer (with relief)

i released a new version of CB this week, after bitmap poked me to fallback to pgbouncer-master if pgbouncer-slave is down.
Also, fixed an issue in LB that caused listen counts to not update.
Worked on deleting user listens from Google BigQuery, have a PR up for that.
Released a new version of BrainzUtils with @kartikeyaSh and @little_rsh’s work on accessing the MusicBrainz database.
Did some code review for @kartikeyaSh and helped out @little_rsh a bit.

Last week I worked on creating artist_credit clusters It’s almost done I’ll create a PR soon. Just dealing with the part of handling anomalies.
This artist_credit clusters is the difficult part after that release clusters will be created in almost exactly the same way as recording clusters. I plan to get that done this week. And I also worked on reviews of LB-367, and LB-352.

I have been working on param’s review comments on importing the MB data PR, and worked on making the code modular.
have been struggling with some issues due to foreign keys for some tables.
figuring it out and hoping to catch up this week.

a lot of the same for me. emails, banks, transfers…
trying to renew our insurance policies I am realizing what dolts we are dealing with and I’m trying to find a smarter company.
managed to get the new door lock for the office out of the clutches of spanish customs after paying the ransom.
hopefully I can install that tomorrow.
PRs, messybrainz, a little LB and a bit of helping @samj1912 with SOLR stuff.
mostly being wrong about him being wrong. the usual.
I’m also working on the conflict resolution policy with our consultant. lots of diverse stuff. still no spark work.
(also pushed our gender neutral policy last week)

spent most of this week dealing with solr/thunder storms :v
solr was super bad to me this week
lots of failed experimentation and time consuming index tests
finally fixed the memory leak with sir
and found a way to backup collections so we dont have to reindex again
currently working on some new benchmarks

I’m still in the countryside trying to relax
This week I did mostly the opposite, by having to find my cat who decided she liked the countryside too much (she’s safely home now)
Also went see some alpacas and stuff
But re: MB, I’ve just been trying to keep up with all the editing
And thinking a bit about the possible women composer project
(plus usual support)
We’ve gotten our first two GDPR delete me requests!
(without a username)
We should add a way for us (me at least) to be able to see the usernames attached to an email. Since I can already see the emails attached to usernames, it’s probably no worse?

At one point this week we were at 99 subscribers for our YouTube channel, so I moaned in MusicBrainz about only missing one, and someone (I’m suspecting ferbncode[m], but he never confirmed) subscribed to become number 100!
Of course, the numbers don’t mean much, but once a channel has 100 subscribers, you get the option of getting a “vanity” URL, so now our YouTube channel lives at:
https://www.youtube.com/c/MetaBrainz
(Someone has since unsubscribed, so we’re back to 99, but the URL is permanent. :))
Other than that, I added a few more abbreviations to the forum and dealt with some flagged content/users.
@jesus2099 asked about enabled Discourse’s dark theme for our forums, so I looked into it, and now there’s a dark theme available for our forums!

And I’ve been around and about on IRC and the mentioned forums.
Outside of MeB hours, I’ve also begun running a MusicBrainz bot: FresoBot
It has some details about it on its account page.
And I also wrote about it on the forums:

It’s basically doing some small edits than would be tedious to do manually.

This week I finished up my work on producer-consumer model. Last week I had finished the asyncCluster module which now enable any producer (and consumer) to run in parallel!
The core functionality for OpenLibrary producers is almost done.
I am currently working on preliminary validation to be done by consumers.
As consumers are also generic, the present consumer design, validation and db interaction can be used for all the future data sources
Apart from this, I designed the basic queue object, which is the format the producers of any data source must produce
I also built LB and poked around.
I’d like to work with d3 in future there!

Spent thursday to sunday at a festival and the rest of the week messing around with pandas and plotly to get my spam data visualizations to a point where I’m happy with them
as promised, here’s a graph on bio lengths from last wednesday

interestingly enough there seems to be almost a gaussian distribution around bio lengths of 3.5k with some outliers to the shorter side

So I have been working on some japanese artist by adding works to the recordings and then I am also merging recordings that I didnt on artist I cleaned up on
I was also wanting to know if someone can possibly look into the Amazon glitch where the image of the album does not show up
I put a request into bugs on metabrainz
(@ApeKattQuest_MonkeyPython: that’s mostly solved with “upload ito caa” thoguh)
true but even then it kinda becomes a hassle
when I add multiple albums at the time and the amazon thing kinda helps shorten the space and what not
(@Freso: I think it’s more likely we’ll stop using Amazon for showing covers entirely.)
I am also planning on putting in a couple of request about updating the famicon of some of the other databases we added so that it would show up on the artist page

Just for the record, I’ve added an “Amazon and cover art” topic to next week’s meeting, in response to discussion during @dragonzeron’s review, to discuss whether it’s finally time to drop support for loading cover art from Amazon, as we’ve discussed previously (years ago when CAA was still very young and thus had much less coverage than now).
