Changing the type of the podcast series

The series, Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, was created as a release-group series, and I’ve been adding the episode release-groups to it as I add them to MB.

But now I noticed that some of the episodes have been re-released for various reasons. Either the team was not available to record a new episode, or in one case, the person they’d interviewed died, and they re-released the episode with a tribute from Conan O’Brien. The re-releases, most of the time, are unedited, but they can also have longer duration. The Wikipedia page for the podcast has a list of all the episodes.

Referencing this situation with the release-groups won’t be easy, perhaps not possible. So I decided to change the type of the series. But because there’s data, I cannot change the type right away.

I found this thread, and followed the suggestions there to test the process on test.musicbrainz.org. It works.

What I want to ask is if this is the best way to do it? Do you have any other suggestions?

If I were to follow that workflow, we’d have to wait for a week for the changes to go live, and it would create a small mess if anyone decided to edit the series during that time. Is it possible to ask for other users to review the changes so that they are applied sooner? Is this frowned upon?

OK, I didn’t have to scroll far, just saw the relevant thread. It says that the removals would still wait for 48 hours, I guess that’s still better than waiting 7 days.
