It is quite new that we can set topic languages, here.
But it’s a pity that we have to select English (US).
Could we have just English?
If not, could we have English (GB)?
@jesus2099 yeah.
Hi,
In context, enabling language tags from Multilingual Plugin 🌐 - plugin - Discourse Meta is part of the multilingual experiments for two weeks; See Notes from #MetaBrainz Meeting 2023-11-27
The plugin uses Discourse’s mapping of locale codes en
to “English (US)” (which should normally be “English”) and en_GB
to “English (GB)”. I agree that the regional variant doesn’t make sense here since most users are from other countries anyway, but I didn’t find how to remove it so far.
There is another error in the language list:
Vietnamese (vi) should be Tiếng Việt, not Việt Nam.
Việt Nam is the country, not the language.
Good catch. This is a bug in Discourse. I just opened FIX: Vietnamese language native name by yvanzo · Pull Request #24987 · discourse/discourse · GitHub to fix it.
