[mailed in] [couscous4304] This week I finished improving my proposal for the task “Revamped Last.fm listens importer”, and shared it on the forum over the weekend.
By adding charts to illustrate my idea more effectively, I also had a chance to review my thought process.

[ApeKattQuest] Have worked on the Lithuanian dūdmaišis, which included fixing up a wrongly attributed (and thus used) image on wikipedia!
Have also worked on the czech/bohemian dudy/bock which also (finally) involved uploading images again! so thanks reo for that!

so this week I’ll be working on the lat 6 bagpipes!

I have been working on a MB API client in TypeScript which automatically infers the correct type of results depending on the specified include parameters.
And I have finally published elbisaur v0.7
It now comes with a parser for Spotify extended history and more documentation.

Last week I reviewed some MB Server PRs and tested mirror for release (mostly carried on by reosarevok otherwise).
With atj and zas, we nvestigated SolrCloud issues and potential improvements for future deployment.
Otherwise I worked on building a base Docker image with Perl 5.38.2 for MB Server.
Then upgraded Ubuntu to Jammy on our wiki server. (The next step is to upgrade MediaWiki to 1.39.)
Also have had much more discussions around development ideas proposed for GSoC, not sure why…

Also, I continued work on BP player revamp
The artist screen is almost done… however I have found a bug with some of the existing functions in the app
Also I would like akshaaatt‘s approval on some View model restructuring

last week, we discuss with yvanzo & atj about new SOLR Cloud deployment
I upgraded discourse (community forums), and fixed deprecated telegraf options, that appeared after last upgrade
I also reviewed Picard & Picard plugins PRs
plus usual supervision, user support, etc…

Not much for me last week. Usual code reviews and replying to bug over mail for the LB app.

last week, i worked on fixing some issues with popularity data and recommendations generation. also, answered multiple GSoC queries, reviewed a few PRs and diagnosed issues causing LB downtime.
finally, worked on moving some long running tasks to a background service. delete listens and delete account at the moment, export listens to be added in future.

Been pretty flat out, once again, with another job
Lucy is off for a 6 week hike in Japan, so a lot of walking the doggo and so on and cooking for one, as well!
But keeping an eye on socials, and quite a bit of discussion and input into various interesting tickets
Cool to see lots of activity from GSoCers
Shout out to yvanzo for helping out when I was ramming my head into my local test server, looking forward to tackling that again when I have time

Last week I was mostly busy with my mid-semester examinations, so couldn’t work much.
I did spend sometime fixing all the tests and making changes based on monkey’s PR reviews.

Last week I started working on a new ansible role for Solr and also made some changes to the Zookeeper role.
I spent some time reading the Solr docs and various guides to try and understand the application better.
We also discussed the architecture of the new deployment and requirements Solr etc.

[mayhem] last week was the usual nonsense for MeB background tasks, emails, new signups,getting called criminals, you know…
I also pushed the artist radio for LB radio server implementation forward which was merged last week. thanks for your help on this lucifer.
now we just need to do tags and we can release an improved LB radio – one that should in theory scale better.
once that is done, I’ll circle back with Ansh and aerozol on how to improve the UI so we can drag the feature out of beta.
I’ll be traveling for the next week, I’ll still be working a few hours in a day before diving into exploring my destination.

[rimskii] I wanna start with good news: I finally finished the feature of importing playlists from Spotify!! Now the code is implemented using troi (I spent a whole week fighting w it, glad I could make it). For now, some little changes for frontend is left. So Working on feedback monkey gave me!
Im having a break rn from uni, so now I can spend more time for contributions. I am thinking of already starting to work on the cool feature we discussed with aerozol and UltimateRiff
Soo We will have playlist labels and folders soon

last week I mostly worked on finishing [MBS-13516: Upgrade from popperjs to floating-ui], which now has a PR open (with some bonus test failures for me to fix)
other than that…I started looking into schema change tickets, which I’ll continue on today and the rest of the week

learned some basics for perl (something very new for me) , as i was trying to have a look at musicbrainz codebase
read about Recurrent neural networks , for my uni exams
made a project of my own trying to practice some animation in next using tailwind and framer-motion

User areas in LB

Hi! This topic is related to [LB-1538: Set user location/area (e.g. for events)]
A user has submitted a PR to add (optional, nobody freak out please) user areas to LB, but we may want to discuss this first.
I believe mayhem and lucifer had discussed adding this to OAuth eventually, but it would be nice to confirm what we want to do and if anyone has any input. I would like to see events added to LB soon, personally, and there is some contributor interest

This involves some core-team work (by @lucifer), and @rob has clarified that we’re not picking this up yet, so related tickets are marked as blocked until user area is available via OAuth (see ticket [LB-1549: LB Pull MeB user area (OAuth)].
