[mailed in] I reviewed many prs for apps last week and we fixed many bugs. Looking forward to doing a beta release this week.

[ApeKattQuest] added hungarian duda (magyar duda)
will work on polish dudy/koza this week and then I’ll have only the lithuanian dūdmaišis and the czechian dudy/bock left and I will be done with the dude(y/a)s!

I mainly worked on upgrading search dependencies.
https://test.musicbrainz.org is currently powered by Solr 9.4.0.
Next step will be beta with Solr 9.5.0 and deployment through Ansible.

Last week I spent some more time improving the Spanish translation, and based on that I found more strings that needed fixing too
Also I worked on some style issues, including adding an “a cappella” recording-recording relationship and an “a cappella” attribute for the “performance of” rel which broke the rel for a while (whoops) but is now fixed
(and the issue is being fixed with [MBS-13496: Link phrase interpolation dies on multi-word attribute names])
I also worked on one small-ish schema change PR (MBS-13421: Add genre collections)
And a way to not have to calculate whether someone is a beginner each time we want to know (MBS-13492: Add a privilege for beginner and automatically update it with cron)

[monkey] I did lots of BookBrainz PR reviews
And helped new contributors get set up
Also fixed and deployed the fix for an issue breaking the book wizard in BB
On LB side I investigated a couple of bugs, and started implementing some of the UI feedback from aerozol
Also some review of the android app functionality

[quote = “lucifer”]
last week, i worked on fixing issues with popularity data in LB.
also reviewed multiple troi and LB related PRs.
did some prep for the upcoming EU trip this week.
and answered some queries from prospective GSoC applicants.

[ansh] Last week I worked on Lazy Loading react components and there has been a good progress on the bundle size and page loading time.
Since the migration to SPA is completed, I worked on refactoring a lot of flask and enzyme tests failing due to the migration.
And I spent some time exploring and creating a roadmap on how we should proceed with server side rendering for LB, and evaluating what all blockers we’ll have in the process.

[mayhem] feeling like crap. came down with a cold.
last week atj was here and we spent a lot of time talking about stuff. literal hours.
yet only about 5-10 minutes of work stuff, lol.
I can firmly say that we managed have a good time in lieu of his summit attendence.
and then I get to do this over again next week with lucifer. : )
I got some work done on PRs, some business stuff, but honestly not super busy week. probably not this week either. meh.

Last week I have finally published GitHub - kellnerd/cueshit: Convert between different cue sheet / chapter / tracklist formats · GitHub
I decided to keep that name as it already occupies the four top DuckDuckGo results : P
The latest version also allows me to convert embedded chapters from basically any multimedia format into a cue sheet / MB tracklist / whatever.
Plus the usual MB editing, voting and a bit of userscript patching.
And I’ve been feeling a bit nostalgish about an old project of mine, where I did a proof of concept for a BB inspired database schema with n-ary relationships and no pre-defined entity types.
Might continue working on that if I find more time.

last week was mainly non-work related but I did have a chat with mayhem about improving specific aspects of our monitoring systems, as well as chatting with zas about very bits and what we need to prioritize
I also spent a bit of time in the office reading up on Solr as some roles will be needed to deploy new environment using ansible
[/quote]
[quote = “bitmap”]
like the previous week, I worked more on the artwork-indexer: fixed a bug I found when running multiple instances, wrote more tests, set up a GitHub actions workflow, and documented maintenance commands
I think that is ready to deploy now
I spent a bit of time testing/reviewing the mb-solr PRs from lucifer/yvanzo/alastairp
the second half of the week I was working on JSON dumps after someone on the forums reported that recordings’ first-release-date fields were missing in the release dump
I applied a temporary fix to the running container, but have yet to open a PR: while investigating that issue, I went down a horrible rabbit hole and found other issues, which I’ll open a PR for this week…

[quote = “aerozol”]
This week has been busy with life and work
And either I didn’t do much MeB work, or I forgot to log hours haha
I’ve been pretty active on a bunch of Jira stuff so I guess I did things?
Have slowly weaned myself off IRC, got a matrix app. Looking good for a change imo

[rimskii] This week was pretty peaceful for me: did some mockups for importing playlists, got some feedback…
Im still working on feature to import playlists from spotify
Its going so good so far: I could fetch the playlists and songs from spotify, only converting to MB and generating playlist is left
this week is being tough for me haha, I got some study thing to do, but im sure i can finish it till the end of this week
oh also! i am working on cleaning some code, and fully converting all spotify api requests to backend

[Pratha-Fish] Nothing much on the contributions side.
But my project advisor thought playist clustering didnt use enough AI, so I switched up my project to advanced mood/theme detection for music using NLP and signal analysis lol.
Can already see an open source project coming out of it. Might as well donate it to MeB if you guys would prefer. ![]()
Especially as a plugin for picard!

[quote = “zas”]
Last week, I had some interesting discussions about future plans with atj & mayhem
I did some minor user support tasks, and general supervision

[quote = “pranavkonidena”]
[pranav] Last week my exams ended, I resolved [MOBILE-188: It would be nice to include features from feed in the profile section of LB Android] in LB Android app
Had a brief discussion with Akshat
Regarding what all can be done with the app
I have to speak with lucifer regarding OAuth for mobile app..
Right now login procedure is not completely in app
Also I have started drafting my application for GSoC.. have prepared some wireframes for the app’s artist album and user pages.. have to get them reviewed by aerozol post meeting if available..
