New release with different title

Hi,

I’d like to add an album, but I’m not sure of the best way to do it. I’ll try to explain:

In 2009, the album “The Pretty Things / Philippe Debarge” was released. It’s got a release group here: https://musicbrainz.org/release-group/6f3b7455-7260-4011-84bd-4300c59d89bb

A few days ago, the album “Rock St. Trop” was released. It features the exact same recordings as “The Pretty Things / Philippe Debarge”, but remastered and with two bonus tracks. Another difference is that the album is now credited to “Philippe Debarge with The Pretty Things” (basically, the band’s manager did not want the new version to be released under the band’s name).

This is a bit unusual for me and I’m not sure of the best way to handle this situation. Should there be a new release group for the “Rock St. Trop” releases? Or should they just appear as releases of “The Pretty Things / Philippe Debarge”?

I’d say it belongs to the same release group.

Same release group with the new title and credit for me too

I would use the same release group and keep its original title and artist credit but use the new title and artist credit for the new release(s).

Ok, that’s what I’ll do then. Thank you all for your answers!

Don’t forget to add “Rock St. Trop” to the aliases and disambiguation as well, so people can find it in searches.

Yes, this would be future proof. Related ticket:
