MusicBrainz for Android under LineageOS 20,no music files access

Hi,
newbee question:
I’m trying to use MusicBrainz for Android (7.0.0) under LineageOS 20 with MicroG (Android13) on a Fairephone 3+.
That means I have no google services running.
In MB I can’t see or edit any files on my phone, only online functions are available, no local functions are visible.

Is this because I have no google services running?
If yes it’s a mistery to me that an open source android app is not functional on a custom rom.

I am looking for an open source music tagger for my android and in fdroid it says about MB
“Tag audio files like Picard”.
This was misleading me.
But now I can remove it.
Do you know about a good open source android app for tagging music on my phone?
