MusiCards for Mac

Hi everyone,

Based on my web-based MusicBrainz Release Viewer and the iOS app MusiCards for iPone, I have now extended the project to macOS:

It is now a universal app, works best on Mac and iPhone and only so-so on iPad.

MusiCards

The Mac version presents MusicBrainz releases and artists in a liquid-glass-inspired accordion interface.
Current features include:

  • artist and release search
  • combined artist + release queries
  • track-title-based release search
  • CD barcode scanning (iPhone)
  • MusicBrainz release MBID lookup
  • Apple Music “Now Playing” release lookup (iPhone)
  • Shazam track recognition → release lookup (iPhone)
  • classical-friendly track display with work / movement structure
  • recording performer & technical credits
  • categorised discographies

I created the concept and workflow, designed the interface myself, while much of the Swift implementation was developed through AI-assisted coding with ChatGPT and Claude.

Powered by MusicBrainz and the Cover Art Archive…

Questions and feedback is very welcome.

Best, Gyorgy

“Frosted” mode for better readability. Light and dark mode views. Frost mode can be set in app settings…

That’s how it looks like on macOS 27 beta…

Hi,
There is a new version, 1.3.0 both for macOS and iOS.
Now you can find links and icons that open the release in the major streaming apps and Discogs - if the link has been added to the release in the MusincBrainz database.
