Is musicbrainz.org down?

I am getting errors when I try to load musicbrainz.org. Both Firefox and Chromium fail, although with slightly different error messages.

I’m getting 502 Bad Gateway errors, so something is definitely going on server-side.

Not just me, then. :frowning:

Maybe the admins are telling us to go outside for a couple hours :slight_smile:

Or “Get back to work, before I make that music database thing your daytime job!”

The trouble is that I listen to music while I work, but I can’t add recordings to the DB fast enough to get everything into my listenbrainz feed.

That’s an old thumbnail.

Down here two. Was wondering why it was taking ages to reply to edit note…

It’s back! (For me, at least.)

… and back down.

Merging the recordings of https://musicbrainz.org/release/9f45aa32-ca3d-4135-a700-3c2b1456dc28 and https://musicbrainz.org/release/810b8bff-48ef-493f-a2c5-38804d73e0a3 will have to wait.

It was working fine on my end, so I took the liberty of merging them for you. I did hit a minor snag around disc 6, but I managed to get them all queued up.

Thank you! I will vote when the site is back for me.

Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

It looks like both the musicbrainz.org and listenbrainz.org route to 142.132.241.153 from here (EU).
static.153.241.132.142.clients.your-server.de (142.132.241.153)

$ curl -4q ``http://musicbrainz.org
curl: (52) Empty reply from server
$ curl -4q ``https://musicbrainz.org
curl: (35) TLS connect error: error:0A000126:SSL routines::unexpected eof while reading

https://downornot.net/check/musicbrainz.org showed 9 hours ago EU connections down (I experienced that, too), but checking now, it is likely just me.

I tested with an ip address from another operator, and connections work. So, it seems the service is blacklisting quite aggressively and ends up just killing the connections. No idea what is happening and what triggers it.

Just now, I was not really using the services at all, so I did not expect to see this happen. The last thing working, I know, was submitting an entry with Web Scrobbler to ListenBrainz. Then, on another machine I opened the ListenBrainz site to get treated with that PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR.

Of course it could be that there is some userscript/app/plugin that misbehaves and causes the server to blacklist my ip address.
I’ve got multiple machines/browsers/apps that are logged into the services at the same time as well, but should not be really using any resources.

Looks like the service is responding again, the blacklisting seemed to last for an hour this time.

I don’t know much about networks, but am currently getting similar errors:

$ curl -4q ``http://musicbrainz.org
curl: (52) Empty reply from server
$ curl -4q ``https://musicbrainz.org
curl: (35) OpenSSL SSL_connect: SSL_ERROR_SYSCALL in connection to musicbrainz.org:443

https://downornot.net/check/musicbrainz.org doesn’t detect any problems.

I couldn’t access musicbrainz for some reason, and I had to go to a tor browser to access it and I created an account with it just so I can add to this, cause for some reason I can access it via tor but not via other browsers. and it seems I was IP banned even though I hadn’t had an account until right now.

I am having the same issue, I don’t believe I didn’t comply with the API restrictions. Does anyone know how to get help if my IP has been blocked?
