tbh a better idea would be to add a release group named
we will rave - Nightcore
and than just the youtube video as a recording with the artist being kaleen and (channel name) as a remixer
(also should I add the channel name as an artist with its pfp and all that should I mark the birth of the channel as the born date of the artist)
anyway this solution would fix any attempts in the future if anyone wants to add any of the other videos https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=we%20will%20rave%20nightcore
so every video will be under the same record group
but each video will have its own recording and remixer length and cover in the group
also what should we do about the ISBN of the recording
so yeah please guide me I guess
I would prolly add a seperate remix single release group for each remix, all of them with a “Remix of” relationship back to the original track and single (if a single exists, of course)
that said, it’s hard to tell which videos are original releases and which are reuploads with different art, so personally I’d prolly focus on decidedly different versions. after a brief listen to those search results, I found at least three different speeds, between the 2:12, 2:31, and 2:41 marks, so there’s at least three different releases and release groups
A release that was created without any participation from the credited artist (e.g. a remix or mashup album that was created without the knowledge of the original artist(s)) should be credited to the artist who created and released it (the remix or mashup artist) instead of to the original artist.
in this case I should create a new release group and recording (with the same name) in this case
We Will Rave - nightcore under RubyChan’s Nightcore artist
and tag it as a remix of Release “We Will Rave” by Kaleen - MusicBrainz
as @UltimateRiff mentioned
.
but in my mind this also applies
A track/recording that is a remix of another recording should typically be credited to the original recording’s artist, not to the remixer. The remixer may be credited instead if the tracklist explicitly credits the track to the remixer rather than to the original artist.
also what about the ISBN of the recording I don’t assume the youtube video has any
should I leave it empty
also what about the recording name
should it be the same as the youtube video for listenbrainz to actually what is it
the same is true for the artist name right ?
thats why I assumed I should give it the same name as the youtube channel
tbh I don’t want to give the recording the same name as the video on youtube since the youtube video ends with (lyrics) or (cover) or whatever
but I have no idea how listenbrainz knows what is it tracking so yeah
If it is an official release/co-released with the original artist:
A track/recording that is a remix of another recording should typically be credited to the original recording’s artist, not to the remixer. The remixer may be credited instead if the tracklist explicitly credits the track to the remixer rather than to the original artist.
If it is an unofficial release/not sanctioned by the original artist:
A track/recording that is a remix of another recording should typically be credited to the original recording’s artist, not to the remixer. The remixer may be credited instead if the tracklist explicitly credits the track to the remixer rather than to the original artist.
Use a random number generator to invent an ISBN. (this is a joke!)
If you don’t know something, leave it empty
MusicBrainz is interested in having artists in the artist field. So if the YouTube channel name is the same as the ‘identity’ of the remixer, then that sounds like the artist, indeed.
If it is a YouTube channel that releases lots of different remixes by different people, or uses a different name to what the remixer/artist goes by, don’t use it in the artist field (unless you really cannot find who the actual artist/s is). The channel may qualify as a label or distributor, but it is not an artist name.
Not sure… there’s quite a long thread here, I don’t think it reaches consensus but it has a bit of discussion on this topic: Release and recording name guidelance
