Hello everyone. I’m new to MusicBrainz editing, but I’ve used services that rely on its incredibly helpful and valued data (like Last.fm). If I’ve done anything incorrectly here, I’d appreciate feedback so I can improve and do this correctly, Thank you.
While using Last.fm, I came across a completely fake compilation album created using one of my favorite songs (“Weird Bed &/or Yes Please” if anyone was curious). The release was added by a user called “gaymichaelafton,” who is also falsely listed as a label.
This release includes songs from completely unrelated artists and albums with no official connection. For example, the track " This Is Such A Pity" is actually by “Weezer” on the album “Make Believe”. There is no evidence this album was ever released or distributed, it doesn’t exist on Discogs, Bandcamp, or any official music platform.
There are also two other nearly identical versions on Last.fm (link), but as far as I can tell, they don’t exist in the MusicBrainz database.
I’d really appreciate it if this fake release could be removed, as it misuses the database and undermines the effort to provide accurate metadata regarding music, and contributes to misinformation.
Here is the link to the removal request: Edit #125619784 - MusicBrainz
Thanks very much for your time and consideration, and again, if I did anything wrong, please correct me.

Maybe this is his home-made compilation?
On the page it says there was a “jewel case release” and that there’s a publisher, so either way it’s not real. Would a personal home-made comp be allowed to be on MB?
Probably not. This is some kind of spam or other purpose.

“While we welcome bootlegs, we discourage adding home-made compilations or mixtapes. These kinds of releases are not widely available and any information about them is typically only useful to the individual who created them. Releases such as these are usually removed from our database. Information about pirate releases is allowed if they are not equivalent to an official release: a direct digital rip of an official CD should not be added, but a pirate release including demos or remixes in addition to the content of the official CD release can be. If you do add pirate releases, please do not add any download / purchase links to them; we want to document them, but not actively promote piracy.”

Thank you, very helpful to know. I see no way that this was actually burned to CD in any quantities, unless it was just maybe one for the owner or something. Never found any pictures of it, and obviously the listed publisher isn’t real either. You can learn a bit more about the person behind this on their last.fm. I’m guessing they’re probably a younger teenager based on some comments I’ve seen by them on last.fm (apologies as this is definitely irrelevant to MB.)
The downside of too much freedom.
Maybe we should ask the original editor (@moepilled, doesn’t look like a spammer/troll to me) , or contact gaymichaelafton (like moepilled did) for proof? Before deleting this, it’s a weird compilation but what if it was actually released? The status shouldn’t be official in any case…

@moepilled could you speak up?
I wrote to moepilled.

When removing, add a link to the remove edit, in the original add edit.
I did it.

Yeah, I did that. I put it through and forgot about it, then assumed it never went through due to this near-identical listing. Only realized after I posted this.

So there’s a fake song on this album. At least I think it’s fake, I can’t find it online anywhere, it’s definitely a joke name.
That it’s not online makes sense, it’s made by gaymichaelafton and supposedly made specifically for their cd. It’s not a very popular cd so I doubt rips exist but I’d love to hear it lol
That’s not really the song I was looking for
see the message above mine, “Sussy DaBaby Intro”
What you linked sounds nice too though
Well, yes.
This is definitely a monumental work by an artist called gaymichaelafton.
