Yes - The Yes Album - Clap MBID: d8964f41-4d96-4edc-8ac8-1509347220d1

This Song is listed as “The Clap”.

What other sources say:

Grok:

It’s “Clap” – just “Clap” – not “The Clap,” despite what some original pressings, reissues, and streaming services say.

Howe wrote “Clap” on August 4, 1969. Jon Anderson suggested the simple title “Clap.”

  • Recorded LIVE at London’s Lyceum Theatre on July 17, 1970the only non-studio track on the album. Howe introduces it as “This is a song called Clap.”

  • Correct versions (e.g., 2003 Rhino remaster, 2014 Steven Wilson remix, official Yes site) fix it to “Clap,” with studio bonus takes included.

In the database there are plenty of recordings of that song, sometimes called it Clap, sometimes “The Clap“.

Stick that in the annotation of the recording and then change the recording title. Make sure it goes up to a vote.

Oh, and here is a link for those who want to see what this is about. Links are easier than text in a title
Recording “The Clap” by Yes - MusicBrainz

I tried to look at what is on the album, but artwork seems to show “the clap” on some earlier releases, and then just clap on later releases. Many of the track lists are already entered as entered as just “clap”. So I guess some other editor has already agreed with you.

I think it is fair enough to change the recording title to just “clap”. Though there is an argument to keep “the clap” on the track list for those earlier album

Moreover, that song were often played live, so live releases and maybe samplers are also affected. As I’m not an editor, ‘just’ a programmer  I will do no edits myself. I only point out where the data is inconsistent.

Don’t use AI as a source please (Even more the openly biased one…)

I put in an edit for the main recording (Edit #135045425) with a proper source. The linked track titles are already quite evenly balanced between the two options, although I didn’t count up which one wins.

Not touching other recordings for now because I’m not entirely sure how to interpret the style guidance if the track titles consistently have “The” (and because I don’t have time, at least right this second). Certainly there’s a case that removing the article would count as error correction, but it’s a bit different to just an obvious typo.
