Why do areas not have a backward link beyond country?

It seems we could keep going.

  • continent, island, or sea
  • planet (earth, mars, venus,…)
  • solar system (Sol, Alpha Centauri A)
  • galactic division (western spiral arm, Carina–Sagittarius Arm)
  • galaxy (Milky Way)
  • sector (001)
  • entire universe

Just makes sense to me that we keep going. How am I supposed to log martian recording from the rover?

Log in - MusicBrainz (emphasis mine):

As an encyclopedia and a community, MusicBrainz exists to collect as much information about music as possible. We do not discriminate or prefer one genre of music to another, and we try to collect information about as many different types of music as we can. Whether it is published or unpublished, popular or fringe, western or non-western, played by humans or computer generated – we want it all recorded in MusicBrainz.

And yet, in reality, our database maintains this ridiculous earth-centric bias. It’s an outrage!

Luna (Moon) is ‘part of’ Terra (Earth)

Agreed. This is a total outrage. How do I set ‘recorded at’ for this vid?

recorded at: :round_pushpin:Titan of :globe_showing_asia_australia: Saturn around :sun: Sol in Western Spiral Arm of :fish_cake_with_swirl: Milky Way in sector 001 of Known Universe

Let’s not forget alternate universes.

When you think about it, alternate universes will have a Musicbrainz database of its own. This does have its own problem regarding replication and who is the authoritative master, but I will leave that up to our MySql experts for managing the 5th dimension issue

It’s not music-related, but here’s a letter I received in the actual mail a few years ago:
