Ever since the DDoS attack, I have been unable to add cover art. OK, I get that it is taking a while to fix whatever needs fixing. But I don’t understand how almost all the albums in the “Recently Added Releases” stream have cover art that has been added the same day. Can someone explain?
It is enabled on https://beta.musicbrainz.org/
Haha, I had a moment where I thought that was wonky as well. Like @agatzk said, devs re-enabled cover art uploading/editing on the beta version of the site as of I think just a few hours ago to see how it holds up. From what I furtively read on ChatBrainz this morning, if all goes well, they should be able to re-enable it on main in about a week.
With that said, during the worst of the IA outage/recovery, I was confused to see seemingly new releases rolling through that “firehose” widget on the homepage. With a little digging, I found that while they were new RELEASES, they were being added to an existing RELEASE GROUP (RG) that had at least one RELEASE, and thus a “main image” uploaded prior to the the disabling of cover art editing/uploading. Just as in Picard, (from my understanding) if the RELEASE doesn’t have a “Front” image, the front page “firehose feed” will fall back to the image set at the RG level.
No use in adding it there as they won’t carry over to the main site right?
The beta works with the production database, so any changes you make on beta are carried over.
Don’t think the beta site is fully uploading yet - thread on the issues here:
Leave it another few days and it will all have settled down.
