When to delete old cover art?

i’ve just uploaded some new cover art for this release. it’s a Japanese release, so it has an obi.

the previous artwork had low-resolution scans of the front+obi and back+obi. i’ve uploaded high resolution scans of the front and back without the obi, and the obi alone.

my question is, what should i do with the existing front and back scans? i understand that usually replacing artwork with an identical higher-quality version justifies deleting the older version, but in this case, the artwork is not the same.

should i leave the existing artwork but move mine before it in the order?

Yes, bump your best front up front. But some will want to see the cover as it is with obi in place. So I would leave those available if I was adding artwork.

Yes, keep them, they’re useful to see how the packaging looks in shops, combined obi+back and combined obi+front.

And furthermore, there is that blue hype sticker on the combined front cover/obi/sticker image, that does not appear in your uploads.

thanks both. i’ve reordered the album art but left the old images.

i did delete the existing medium (CD) image as there’s no difference between the two other than one being higher quality.

Personally, I like seeing the distinctive packaging from the release group page, to see market variants, rather than the “pure” front covers, that all look similar.

Agreed that the cover with OBI is better for telling releases apart.

It would be fairly trivial to combine your OBI and front image, for an excellent quality front + OBI image, by the way
