What to do for an album with no label, catalog number, barcode etc?

I’ve added the artist Stephen Jacques with information I could find, including his website, social medias.

He’s released 13 professionally produced CD albums but there’s no barcodes, publisher / label, catalog numbers, nada. He’s not on Discogs despite that and having had songs played on 300+ radio stations.

How does Musicbrainz handle this type of situation?

I only have his “Prayers For an Orange Cat” CD, there’s a label on the jewel case saying Producer: Steve Albini (Nirvana)

Just post what you have. Tick the boxes saying “no barcode”. And ideally scan the artwork you do own. Supply reference links to other data where possible.

Document what you can. MusicBrainz is about music. Adding an obscure artist that no one knows about is always the best.

Add the “Producer” credit where you can as links like that are one of the cool parts of MusicBrainz. Being able to follow down a rabbit hole of who worked with who is always fascinating.
