What belongs on MusicBrainz

I recently found a bunch of my wife’s CDs that I hadn’t ripped, and many are not in the MB database.

Reading the FAQ and wiki I couldn’t tell what the bar is for something being included. Some examples from least “official” to most:

  1. A self-published CD that about 100 copies were made of on a CD-R with a jewel-case insert clearly printed on an inkjet
  2. A pressed CD, that is a self-titled EP with no barcode from a band that never released anything else
  3. A pressed CD of a christian college chapel band; it has a barcode and a catalog number, but no music label is listed. The CD says “DISC MAKERS” on the clamping area which I assume is the vanity press used to make it.

Welcome :waving_hand:

These all sound valid to me, as they all appear to be released by the artist(s).

That’s because there pretty much isn’t a bar

Beyond it being actually “released” in some form (e.g. a mixtape made for friends would not be considered “released”).
