Weekly Jams and other "Created for you" playlists stuck

We see where the problem is, we’re now trying to get everyone re-generated.

OK, problem resolved – this was a knock-on effect from the last stats problem we had. All playlists and missing data should be up to date now.

If this isn’t the case, please let us know!

My recordings are getting updated https://api.listenbrainz.org/1/cf/recommendation/user/muness/recording but I’ve yet to get any playlists generated since signing up. Am I not waiting long enough or doing something wrong?

Resurrecting this old thread because I’m encountering the same issue too. My generated playlists didn’t update yesterday and are showing 7/14 as the updated date. I’m not sure if there’s something I’m supposed to do or if I need to alert people here. Any insight or help would be great. Thank you!

Our recommendations/big data cluster decided to crap out over the weekend, causing this issue. Working on resolving that issue now, hoping to re-generate data before too long.

Thanks for that update and I guess I’m glad I noticed this so you guys could find an issue? LOL. I see my Weekly Jams playlist has updated, though not Weekly Exploration. I’ll give it some time since it likely is running for every user on the site right now. Hopefully I’ll see new tracks there in a few hours. I’ll report back if I don’t.

Both weekly jams and exploration are now up to date for both sti3 and MacStainless.

Hi @rob, I followed the bot and my daily playlist still hasn’t been created.

You have 127 listens – that is not enough for us to work with. Listen to more music and eventually you’ll get playlists.

We need to fix this situation (cold start problem) better, but we’re working on other critical improvements first. Hopefully sometime next year we can improve the onboarding for new users.

Sorry for the additional message in this thread. This finding isn’t exactly the same, but it feels related to the thread.

Around three days ago, I noticed some strange behavior for the daily-jams and weekly-jams. Specifically:

  1. 2 days ago, I noticed that the daily-jams were not updated at all. That’s fine, this happens occasionally
  2. 1 day ago (and today), I observed that the daily-jams is showing no tracks that I have listened to before
  3. Today, I also observed the weekly-jams regenerated early (Friday, September 19), except they are very empty. This one at least appears to possibly be a more general change, as I also observed the weekly-jams updated for another user ( ListenBrainz as an example )

As far as I can tell, nothing changed from submitting. Did something change for playlist generation in the past few days?

I can confirm this. My daily-jams also contains tracks I never heard before and the weekly-jams contains a single track.

It looks like the daily jams today (September 21) were correct again, maybe a temporary blip? I’m hoping the weekly jams tomorrow are also fine now, but things look to be recovering.
