User scripts on mobile

@jesus2099 You’re still using kiwi? From today I am not able to open Violentmonkey settings. Do you have the same issue?

I don’t see any update that happened today that should of broken it.

I forced stopped Kiwi and cleared cache. That seems to fix it for now.

After Kiwi was abandoned, I’ve been using Firefox for Android with Stylus and Violentmonkey without issues since April 2025.

You should never ever see any updates, as it was abandoned.

Still holding back from Firefox as they do not have the option to open link in new tab in group.

Yes indeed, and no webdev debug tools, and no copy link text context menu.

But, as I had some new bugs with Violenmonkey last version, and as it is not updated anymore, so I keep using Firefox for Android, despite the 2 big regressions I have cited above.

Followed this guide, managed to install Tampermonkey, imported my scripts, but they’re not running.

On 2024-05-30, it couldn’t have been Firefox 160.
Apparently, at that time, it was version 126 and the all extension support (including Violentmonkey and Stylus) was started on 2023-12-19, with version 121.0.

This important feature is now (back?) in Firefox for Android!
:smiley::clinking_glasses:

And Save as PDF has also been restored, quite some time ago!

Firefox for Android Rebirth history

View Page Source is provided by a straightforward extension.

Now I’m mostly missing genuine webdev tools, as MobiDevTools extension is little bit weird and difficult to use (good point is that now it can be shown active before page reloading), I never remember what buttons does what (they are only icons with no labels).

I really need to test that newer eruda-based Mobile DevTools extension!

No replacement for Open in new Tab in Group, and Firefox still pauses scripts when tab is not active (like when COLLECTION HIGHLIGHTER is loading), but in the end, it’s not as important as what is now available.

Anyway to get this working in Firefox already?

I’m still using kiwi for MB, but lately having issues loading discogs.

Maybe try doing it with Firefox Collections?
After a few years, I still don’t understand the use of FF Collections, not how you use them.
They just seem redundant with bookmarks/favourites.

Update: Edge Canary supports extensions, has open tabs in groups (Thanks @dvirtz for showing me that setting) and copy link text.

My new browser for MB!

Ach, Edge Canary is not compatible with my Android 9 Redmi 7.
Hopefully, there is Firefox.

@jesus2099 do you try this:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.emmx.canary

or

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/download?form=MA13FJ

?

The first one, as the link I have put in my post.

Why it is not compatible? What message?

Because they don’t support Android 9 any more:

Android

Microsoft Edge for Android can be installed on tablets and phones that meet the following criteria: devices running Android 10.0 or later with an ARM-based processor.

You’re probably not interested in older, 32-bit versions of Edge from untrusted sources…

I had no other choice but to use the ever crashing Edge browser on my Windows Mobile phone, so I have no intent to try it again, now on Android. I’m very happy to use FIrefox.

I can’t give you a heart, but OK.
It’s still a free world, though less and less so.
The important thing is that you’re happy and that there are choices.
Some might say I’m forcing Microsoft products on you.
But that’s not the case.
I’ve tried other companies as well.
Microsoft has evolved too. These are no longer the days of BSODs and constant battles with the system.

In fact I would rather use Edge than Google Chrome.
I know Edge is based on Chrome, like the awesome Vivaldi (Opera Presto successor) that I use on desktop.
