Url for adding new Artist to MusicBrainz changed?

This report lists Discogs artists that dont seem to be in MusicBrainz

and the Add button opened
https://musicbrainz.org/artist/add

but this no longer works, it seems it has to be
https://musicbrainz.org/artist/create

Is this change intentional, and if so why ?

Huh. As far as I can tell it’s been create since NGS at least? @Bitmap, @yvanzo: did we remove any redirects for this?

For releases it’s add:
https://musicbrainz.org/release/add

Create doesn’t work:
https://musicbrainz.org/release/create

Its certainly used to work since NGS, because I created this site after NGS

Yeah, and I’ve been annoyed for a long time about the inconsistency because I feel all should be the same. But I looked at the code and the code for artist/create is from 2011. So the only options I see are a) a redirect used to exist that got removed for some reason or b) that link never worked.

I confirm https://musicbrainz.org/artist/create is in use since NGS at least, as a redirect from
https://musicbrainz.org/edit/artist/add.html to it has been added in the first schema change release after NGS.

I cannot find anything about https://musicbrainz.org/artist/add redirect in the codebase history. If it ever existed, it may have been set up outside the codebase and may have been dropped when MusicBrainz servers moved to new host in 2016 for example, or any earlier hosting change.

@ijabz, has https://musicbrainz.org/artist/add been working for Albunack recently?

I dont know if it worked recently since I havent used it for some time, but it did work a few years ago after I originally created Albunack, which was many years after MusicBrainz NGS
