United States unincorporated towns not in the database

I have long used the county that the unincorporated town is in but a higher lever of granularity would be nice. I recently brought down a number of databases that I am going to merge together (and process) to create spreadsheet showing State, City/County, unincorporated town, longitude/latitude, approximate population, description, etc. I will probably write some code to query google on the data to verify the databases I brought down which are all based on the postal zip code information of some kind. There would be on the order of 30,000 entries, the zips top out at 44,000 but many are for cities. Is there any interest on the administrative side to add United States unincorporated towns into the database.

Yes, but we currently do that on a need-to-have basis. So, any towns that are missing and you have an actual use for should be requested but please do not ask for 30k towns because that’s never going to happen

Eventually we might get the Wikidata bot back and let more stuff be added automatically, and then a bigger amount of these towns will probably also get added through that.

I kind of figured that, I thought I would ask first before doing a lot of work immediately. I do mostly bluegrass but have been pushing slowly into “roots” style music which comes from many small communities in rural areas. I try to document musical families and their interconnections as much as the database and research will allow. I think (for the work I do) identifying the unincorporated towns around the Appalachian mountains would be the most beneficial since there is a rich tradition of musical interest handed down through generations. Up until the 50’s/60’s many of these places lacked much of what we have now and music was the center of community gatherings.
