Unicode symbol vs Latin

Hi there,
I tried to find the answer in the Wiki, also in the forum, but I’m not sure about MusicBrainz “ethic”, so I’m seeking advice here.

A musical group has taken the name Z▲Z▲Z◎Z◎ which was simplified in Latin characters in MusicBrainz: ZaZaZoZo.
My question is quite straightforward: should I rectify the writting with artist intent, or keep it more readable like it is?

Would be this?

Thanks for your feedbacks.

If the artist now uses the funky version as their official name, then you can change the name on MB. Make sure the other one is an alias. If you know when the name change happened, then you can note that in the aliases.

Be careful as to checking older releases so they have the correct title as per their artwork. I notice they only have one release which was originally added with their Ascii name. So I “think” you now need a new release for their new Bandcamp page. Especially as the artwork has changed.

TBH - I am a little confused at that point as to exactly how the name changed is handled with Digital media as that new bandcamp page is using older release dates.

As far as I know, it’s a “one-shot” apparition, just for this album.
Bandcamp says May, 2012 as a release date; as for the CD, I don’t know (I have the numeric release), but seeing the back cover, it appears that the strange Z▲Z▲Z◎Z◎ spelling is the original one.

(As I’m very new in MB editing, I don’t want to break anything or misbehave, hence I’m seeking advice!)

The rear cover would make me change it in all places. Leaving aliases around for search

Thanks for your answers, @IvanDobsky !

So, I posted my change request.
I found no place for setting aliases, but I kept “ZaZaZoZo” as sorting name (just like I suggested in my initial screenshot).
