Tracks/lengths mix up, misprint in booklet?

I was listening to this release (“Hmm… Gumbo” from Room Eleven) and found that two tracks are swapped regarding titles/lengths. It’s regarding the 2nd and 3rd track on the bonus disc.

The release in question on MB has a discid attached, which shows that the order of the tracklengths are correct, but titles are swapped. However, looking at the linked Discogs release the booklet says the titles are in the correct order. So I digged a little further, found this Discogs release which has the titles and lengths correct, but with the same booklet images as the former. Digging further, looking at sites where this release is being sold, the order of the titles are representing the booklet order.

The Dutch library has this same release in their catalogue and provides on their site samples to listen. There you can clearly hear that in the sample of ‘Business Card’ they sing the lyrics of ‘Stronger’ and visa versa.

For ‘Stronger’ there is a clip on YouTube with a similar length as ‘Business Card’ on the MB release. Also on Spotify the track has that similar length.

‘Business Card’ also exists on Spotify and Deezer with the length similar to the length as ‘Stronger’ on the MB release.

So, I’m pretty convinced that the booklet is misprinted or maybe the tracks got put in the wrong order on the disc. My question is: how would I handle this in MB?

MB wants a track list as you can hear it.

Discogs has very different rules as over there you have to always enter what the book says, even when it is wrong. So you need to read the edit notes to make sense of things there.

When I have found stuff like this in my collection I’ll correct the Track List and Recordings in MB and then add an annotation to explain how the book is printed wrong.

The DiscID and your Ear are the best resource here.

There can be a few hiccups. Sometimes booklets or CDs get corrected later - but that is then a new release to be added.

I have also found occasions where the Digital Shops have things wrong. Thanks to being able to listen to samples it is often easy to confirm this. Even in those cases MB then gets the track lists corrected.

So document what you hear. MB is about the Music.

Thank you, that makes a lot of sense. Have just submitted the changes (link to open edits).
