Not for me!
600 DPI png was considered “archival quality” by the heritage team I worked with at the Library (might have increased since), and for me artwork is a incredibly important part of music history and culture - including the details.
Apart from that, it takes a lot of time to scan, stitch and upload artwork (much more time than editing metadata) so I find it a waste of my time (and someone elses) to upload something that will eventually be replaced with a better version. I like to think that once I’ve added a rare release to MusicBrainz my copy could be lost in a fire and I would not have to feel like much has been lost.
That said, I usually scan/archive weird local releases that literally might be the last copy left, but I think the same thinking can apply to popular releases.
