Splitting or not? Egypt 80, Fela Kuti, Seun Kuti

Lots of duplicate release groups between Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 - MusicBrainz and Seun Kuti - MusicBrainz.
I’d go with the first option, since they released at least 5 albums under that full name. Is that the right approach? Just checking before doing it!

Good, I think.
I did it for the first album, which has artist & artist’s group credited on front cover.

Merge towards the oldest release group and the target artist credit can always be fixed, if needed, per packaging.

Maybe artist Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 should be merged with Egypt 80, as well?

I don’t know them to decide.

I’d say no for merging the artists, as Egypt 80 used to be the backing band for Fela, and then played with his son Seun.
I’ll get on merging the release groups!

Edit: oh, well, I see you did them all after all :slight_smile:

To me it also makes sense to leave Egypt 80 separate, because of the history with the different front-people. I imagine some users will want to see the Egypt 80 music together, throughout their history?
