I realized recently that seemingly on RYM, even if two tracks were released at the same time on SoundCloud and are elsewhere considered part of the same single, if they aren’t linked by a playlist or album on SoundCloud they don’t consider them to be the same release.
(For example, phoinky and phoinky(ft. kd and hermo), which were released at the same time and are part of the same release here.)
For clarification’s sake, is it the same on MusicBrainz, or..?

There’s no rule or guideline that I’m aware of within MB that says a SoundCloud release has to be part of a playlist to be considered a valid release, especially given that playlists are optional on the artist side, and not uniformly used on this platform.
However, it looks like the album art differs between the SoundCloud tracks, so I’d personally create three releases within the same release group, making sure to reuse the recordings across releases:
- The 2-track Spotify release.
- The 1-track SoundCloud release for the main version.
- The 1-track SoundCloud release for the KD + Hermo version.
The last one can be a little wonky, given that it could be viewed as a
remix and could technically be it’s own release group with the primary type being set to Single
and the secondary type being Remix
, but that varies between editors, and the title/cover art doesn’t explicitly call it out as a remix.
