Five months ago, I made a rather spontaneous and somewhat rash decision. I added a release (Release “Re:package” by livetune - MusicBrainz) to the database for which I don’t have a CD copy, and information about it is very limited. There are also no rips available anywhere, so it’s impossible to listen to it. Adding this version of the release could be considered destructive. At the very least, it disrupts the track listing and the number of listens on the release page on ListenBrainz.
Should I remove it, or should I put it in a separate release group and mark this version’s group as the album’s first version release group?
P.S. I apologize if anything is formed incorrectly or incomprehensibly. I’m using DeepL to write and correct text, lol.
Your entry seems to be backed up by a Discogs entry. Discogs requires to have the release in hand, and although this sometimes is not respected, the Discogs entry is there with actual images.
Not being able to listen to it shouldn’t be a problem.
Just be sure to check the data you entered very well against the little sources you have. If you have doubt about some data being accurate, it’s probably best not to include it other than a mention in the annotation, making clear you might have doubts.
If you really deem the entry to be of low quality, you can also use the Change data quality feature and change it to low.
What I do see is probably not right: you made new recordings for what are most likely the exact same recordings as the later issues of the same title. Unless there is reason to believe these are different recordings (which I don’t think is the case,) I’d merge the individual recordings.
