I started importing this Bandcamp single (strangely described as an EP) and the system found an already existing release group for it. The problem with that is that release group is an EP and its sole release contains 4 tracks, one of which is the track from the single. To me this feels like it belongs in its own release group (the digital Bandcamp version at least, can’t know the track lists of the available physical versions). Do you think I should create a new RG?
Is it possible that it’s three of the tracks have been hidden/deleted by the artist? It seems unusual that a single release would have a different title to the work it contains.
I would probably err on the side of keeping the same release group given the similarities, but you might want to see if you can contact the artist to find out their intention behind this release, whether they consider it a single or not.
The single is here, with its own artwork: City | Mariangela Demurtas . I would add that as an additional download and streaming link to the already existing MB single release.
Regarding the EP: Did you buy the digital version? I have a few Bandcamp releases with hidden bonus tracks that are only included in the download, but don’t appear in the tracklist on the website and cannot be streamed.
Another possibility is that there used to be four digital tracks in 2021, but the artist has withdrawn three of them. You cannot tell whether that’s the case though without a time machine (archive.org only has copies dating back until 2024).
Either way, if you want to submit that incomplete thing, I would stick to the EP release group as per artist intent. If they call it an EP, it is an EP. ![]()
