Should artist primary names be Display names, or platform handles?

For artists that only release on platforms with multiple things that could be considered their name, (such as youtube, soundcloud) should the user’s @handle be the Artist name, or their chosen display name? Suppose that the artist does not have a presence on other platforms (such as spotify) that would give a more definitive answer

My inclination is the display name, as the handle typically has to be unique and the artist may have compromised on what they used for it if it was already taken

Do they not have any cover art or promo text or anything that would give a concrete name? If not, I’d probably prefer display name for the reason given, yes.

Ah, for the instance I was looking at (https://www.youtube.com/@GOURDDD), I do see their display name used in the title and thumbnails of their older works, so that’ll work for something concrete. Thank you!
