Separate releases for (Japanese) digital releases with same UPC but different scripts?

There can be releases on digital stores and streaming services with the same UPC but different scripts (romaji, original).
It seems that vendors decide how they want to represent a release based on the expected audience (see Apple Music JP/GB).
Should these be separate releases (because of different scripts) or do they count as one (because of identical identifiers)?

One release per language/script, IMO, like pseudo-releases for transcriptions.

There have been edits (I don’t have time to find them), where it was said it was okay to have separate releases for each language if someone wanted to add them with something like “official transliterated” or something similar as a disambiguation. Not uncommon for Japanese releases to also have an English transliterated release present in the release group, even if it shared barcodes and store IDs. It would be cool to finally get an alternate track listing somehow on a release though and combine all of them.
