I wanted to be sure I handled this correctly. I entered created a release group here for a release that was originally in Russian. It was released with the band name and track-list in Cyrillic script on spotify and the artists bandcamp, which I treated as a single digital release. The album was also released physically and digitally on bandcamp by an English label about a week later.
Usually, when there are otherwise identical releases on streaming, the artists bandcamp, and the labels bandcamp, I would treat them all as a single digital release. It looks like each release can only have one language, so I think a translated tracklist would require a separate digital release.
The main part I was unsure about was removing the Russian from the English release. Including both the original and translation seems redundant, and I’m not sure if it was artist intent because it’s the labels bandcamp and not the artists bandcamp that had both languages. I didn’t find much guidance on this situation in the style guide, but I thought the original language track titles could be considered extra information not needed to distinguish the track when it’s included with the translated track titles.
Should I have just left it as was with the English in parenthesis after the Russian? Would I still set the language to English and script to Latin in that case to distinguish it from the untranslated Russian release? Would the answer be the same for the physical cassette release that also has the translation in parenthesis?
