For a while I’ve been confused on while Tidal has these “low res” releases that aren’t marked as High or Max. Example:
Turns out, these are the Dolby Atmos releases, the Tidal web UI just doesn’t display that. You can see that it’s Dolby by using the “Monochrome” alternative front end.
The issue with linking these, is Apple Music does not show a different barcode for Dolby releases (even though they should have a seperate barcode).
I think the best process here would be to link the Apple Music url to both the standard release, and the Dolby Atmos release. Is that the best way to go about this?
You can also find out by right clicking on the page and choosing “inspect”. Then go to the network tab. Refresh the page. Then search for “audiomode”. It will tell you there that it’s Dolby Atmos on every track.
Oh, and do not link the Apple Music releases to any TIDAL Dolby Atmos releases. They are not the same. Apple Music does not have Dolby Atmos mixes that are separate from the standard mix releases. They are the same release, it just has a switch for the recordings. In other words, it’s the same URL & Barcode, etc. TIDAL Dolby Atmos releases have unique barcodes that aren’t shared with Apple. So they are not the same release.
