Recording merge question

I’m not all that confident with merging recordings, and I’d like some advice on this.

I came across some edits to rename the recordings for two tracks from the Jonathan Livingston Seagull soundtrack (JLS). The editor is editing tracks on a compilation album that has “Jonathan Livingston Seagull” prepended to the track titles.

There are 5 tracks from JLS on the compilation. Two of them are linked to the same recordings as the soundtrack. The other three are linked to new recordings. The lengths are significantly different from the soundtrack recordings, but I doubt they are actually new recordings.

I’m confident that the recordings used on the OST should not be edited to prepend the JLS title, but should the other three be merged to the OST tracks? I hope that’s clear.

Slight confused by the question. Which edits?

Agree that the subtitles should not be added to the recordings.

And if recordings are more that a long length difference then should not be merged. Can you link those merge edits?

I would expect the ones on the soundtrack are “edits of” the originals on the compilation.
