Rearranging artist social links for Last.fm (and friends) for those with multiple profiles in same platform

I added MANEDBENTO!’s both main and art Instagram accounts on MusicBrainz as I added BRING THE NOISE EP to the MusicBrainz database last month, but Last.fm pointed to the latter, hence the (now rejected) removal edit. Should I only point to an artist’s main profile even though they might have other/alternative accounts?

I might ask this at their community forums instead if this is something I couldn’t fix on my own, since they usually pull metadata from the MB database dumps by default (with some delays)

I add multiple links if they exist. I don’t think we should delete valid data because a downstream reuser isn’t set up to handle it.

It would be nice to be able to mark a primary link per website though for cases like this.

this is an issue I’d thought about in regards to ListenBrainz a while back, I went ahead and created a ticket for a potential solution for the problem

I also typically add all URLs for an artist, and also would not remove valid data just because someone isn’t handling it properly. don’t tag for the renderer, after all~ :wink:
