Proposal: Link numerical Napster artist ID on artist pages instead of regional artist names

At the moment, if there’s an regional, alphabetical Napster-link for an artist on MusicBrainz, it’s shown on the artist page. If you click on it, it redirects to the global link with the numeric, unique ID of the artist on Napster.
Example:
https://musicbrainz.org/artist/5b11f4ce-a62d-471e-81fc-a69a8278c7da
Link shown to Napster US:
https://us.napster.com/artist/nirvana
If I click on it, the page redirects to
https://web.napster.com/artist/art.69299?catalog=us
Since the artist IDs on Napster are not regional at all, I link to the unique artist ID on Napster when editing. Example:
https://musicbrainz.org/artist/8fc89a2c-d01a-41ae-a6fc-d7e7300d8ee5
https://web.napster.com/artist/art.60899
But in this case, the Napster link gets hidden, you need to click on View all relationships.

With respect, that seems absurd to me. I suggest reverting to Napster’s unique, globally used numeric IDs and not linking ‘Napster US’ in artist profiles, but… Napster!

This is how Napster links used to look in 2020 when we added support for them :slight_smile: I guess they’ve changed them though, so I’ll look into updating our support as well.

If there’s Napster subscribers with access in this thread, could you check what happens for example if you try to access this old French Napster link? It just redirects to the “welcome to Napster” French page to me but it might be different for subscribers.

There’s a lot of other links in the original Napster pull request and originally most just redirected to the /artist/name URL, which is why we kept that as our default. Also, the reason we have Napster US, Napster FR etc is that we have no idea if the links work in all countries, since some stores and streaming services have different content per country (the redirect URL showing catalog=us suggests this might be happening here too?).
