Performer for all-synthetized music

Hi everyone, as the title says I was wondering what is the most appropriate performer (recording artist) for computer-performed music, e.g. Release “Pokémon Puzzle Challenge” by Minako Hamano & Senda Taishi - MusicBrainz

The various pieces have clearly been composed by humans who are credited, so they’re reasonably the track artists (and, thinking about it, I should add as work composers too); but should the recording artists be left as such or changed to [unknown] or more likely [no artist], considering that nobody is per se performing the music when the software generating the waveform is running?

As you can see I’ve already tried the latter for recording 6, which I created separately as it was going to be duplicated anyway, but am not very sure of the better option…

Consider, too, that in other cases e.g Commodore SID or MIDIs the sound produced could vary significantly depending on implementation details!

No. MusicBrainz Recordings represent recorded audio.

That’s of course a mismatch between the technical details of how MIDI files work and the MusicBrainz schema, which there’s probably some lost Style decision in lost legacy platforms that MusicBrainz used to do business inside.

Left as such.
For electronic non performed music, such as sequenced music, “the producer” (the one responsible for the electronic creation of the sound, for instance SID programming/sequencing,) is equivalent to a performer and should usually be the recording artist.

Thanks! Changing that back, then…
