[mailed in] The main news is that I’m going to be traveling soon for two (!) big family reunions.
I have made the decision to leave my laptop at home to give myself a much needed break. I will be reachable for chats but not for ‘actual work’ from the 13th May to 13th June.
Some menial tasks, like meeting notes and posting updates to socials, will be on hold, unless sometime wants to volunteer for those jobs. Ping me if you’re keen!

[mailed in] Spent some time dwelling on random things, trying out new stuff and research.
Haven’t been doing well mentally, maybe cause exams, I couldn’t do much for LB.
Reviewed some prs, interacted with the community. Hopefully i’ll be back with more updates next week. Planning on working on some big things in Metabrainz this summer.

[BB-841: Refactor Promises in src/client/components/pages to use async/await syntax]
Finally opened the ticket for revision page bug.
And started planning the first phase of my project.

Last weekend, I finished the first version of Harmony’s Discogs provider.
It was too late for a release last night, so I plan to do that this evening.

[Jade (she/her)] * So it was mentioned last week that some people don’t really know what project I’m working on. So here’s a quick summary:
I’m working on a MusicBrainz-schema native federated music server. That’s a munch of jargon that basically means:

• It’s a program you run on a server to stream your music library to any device
• You can connect with your friend’s servers to be able to borrow access to their music, as well as your own
• The UI and schema of the app is built around the MusicBrainz schema, so things like artist credits and releases work as well as they can, unconstrained by the limitations of embedded metadata formats
• Ideally it’ll integrate with ListenBrainz for recommendations and so on, too

It’s my uni final year project, which I’m kind of rushing to get done because I only have a few weeks left. I’m calling it PlayerBrainz now, but better name suggestions are welcome :3
Right now it lives at https://forgejo.ellis.link/Jade/playerbrainz if you want to have a poke around, but it’s not documented or ready for distribution yet.
With that said, for this week’s actual progress:

• I implemented a whole bunch of user management functionality, authentication, login forms and so on
• I finished the scanner, which now does both an initial scan and incremental indexes based on filesystem watching
• Plus a bunch of code refactoring and cleanup, of course

Not much this week since I was traveling around. But I deployed a preventive patch for the linux copy fail exploit on all servers.
I also worked on bot-detector, and its config, we keep getting bad waves of scraping bots
So I worked on a new complementary approach based on Proof of Work, more on this soon
I also implemented a picard-plugins --init command to create a new plugin skeleton (interactive or not)
Plus user support and minor things.

[ansh] Last week, I was mostly away from keyboard.
I did get some time to pick up nitpicks in the LB code. I was going through each file one by one and tried improving things which usually get unnoticed. Optimised a few SQL queries, and picked up some bugs.

[Shreshth Sharma] Mostly been busy with exams for the time being. Made edits to lb-1977 and it should be good to go now I believe. Made edits to lb-1941 too but haven’t quite got to push them yet. will do it soon : )

or given i have gotten selected, y’all can call me success now (no pressure)
i got a review on my PR and worked on it
and since my distro broke last time and got me in some trouble i replaced it this week
changed EndeavourOS up with EndeavourOS :3
(hopefully more stable this time)

Just finished my end sem exams recently and came Home after a long time. Spend the other half of last week in understanding the LB codebase properly and started preparing for my GSOC project.

I worked on schema change tasks all week. the major items were a postgres v18 upgrade script for musicbrainz-docker, and various musicbrainz-server PRs to support rabbitless sir.

[Atharv] Last week I was not able to work that much because of mid-term exams. I worked on BB-894 and opened a PR for it, the fix for search field text clearing on blur.

will try to be more active in a few weeks, currently trying to hold up with the college academics
could not get selected for gsoc, this time though : )

Last week did some more SAMBL work, bandcamp broke briefly due to bandcamp adding very basic browser verification. Tweaked a lot of soundcloud code so matching should properly work for artists (since MBz doesn’t standardize trailing slashes for SC). Also begun work on a musicbrainz entity search page. Other than that, Ive been working on a genius lyrics userscript for editors over there using MB data.

This week my uni exams finally got over and got selected for gsoc : ). Spent most of my weekend researching for the project.

[monkey] Last week I looked into some load issues on ListenBrainz and deployed a new version with some improvements on minimizing and caching, which have done wonders to improve trafic on the prod website
Had a video call with a music researcher who wants to help us out
Created some tickets from user feedback
And chipped at the mound of open PRs
And some general admin, socials, emails, etc.

last week, i worked on resetting the spark cluster to bring back stats which worked but it seems playlists have broken now so at that again.
helped reo a little with generating invoices.
a couple of small PR reviews for LB.

My university exams are now over, so I’ll be free from academics. I’ll resume development and start working on bug fixes and pending coding tasks

I spent a bit of time updating my series of series schema change code, plus a bit of MBS refactoring, and otherwise I mostly dealt with mails, forms, and talking to people, plus had the Q2 board meeting
And of course the usual adding areas, dealing with reports, etc
