have dinner with Rashi and Suyash, who are both in London now. They send their best!
Rashi said one really cool thing about us: “Meta sought me out because of my MetaBrainz experience.”
how cool is that?
other than that, I did emails, some accounting non-sense.
and some pathetic mentoring of the excellent ericd, who well…
didn’t need mentoring.
he’s just rocking the project, so my head has been in vacation cloud land. I’ve not been this chill in…
ever.

[MonkeyPython] I’ve got little done online, but offline I’m very busy!
I have accomplished loads! so now I am setting up the instrument environment and hopefully will be starting on instruments soonish!

Last week I finally finished adapting the BB website and the importer to the new schema.
Luckily everything still works the same, only that imported entities now have BBIDs!
Now that is done, I could finally focus on implementing new features and throwing out now redundant code.

ast week I did the MB server release, then proceeded to work on regression fixes MBS-13729, MBS-13727, MBS-13731
[MBS-13729: Getting TypeError while trying to merge releases]

similarly started working on MBS-13735 and continued trying to debug the test failures in [MB pull 3351]

I moved Jenkins to another server because of general Selenium test flakiness, too. seems to have helped somewhat
I also spent some time testing/reviewing some of derat’s awesome PRs, which I hope to put on beta today

i think that [MB pull 3355] is ready to go in for MBS-13724 now

and i also started thinking about MBS-9479 and uploaded [MB pull 3359] as a draft, although it likely still needs a bit more work on the UX front

[Jade] This last week, I’ve added a workflow to set the Docker Hub description
I’ve updated a couple of the templates, and added one new one (60% of templates are fully done now!)
I’ve also improved the docs a bit, and started on writing my final report
And of course I did a little work on the Perl integration, and chatted about that

last week, i worked on improving the speed of stats processing in LB using multiple ways. speeding up inserts in couchdb, reducing redundant processing in spark etc.

[ansh] Last week, I worked on tickets for stats page. And worked on MusicPlayer UI PR.
Did test Listening Queues PR extensively before finally merging it.
So, you can now enjoy uninterrupted playback on ListenBrainz despite navigating. So it’s live on test.listenbrainz.org, and will be live on production soon.
And worked on refactoring stats component in UI and spent time re-writing tests for it

[monkey] Short week for me, I continued working on the new album-wide MBID mapping, and worked on a bug with pins in LB
Helped ansh with final testing of the new BrainzPlayer
And did a bit of PR review
Then left for a long weekend of climbing in the mountains [photo]
(bottom left, you can see us crossing a 50m nepali bridge)

[pranav] Last week was pretty fun, finished writing tests for user pages in ListenBrainz android, and completed the majority of Artist pages … LB radio functionality is left which I feel would be better to do once playlists are implemented in the user pages
Have finished ‘interlinking’ the user, artist and album pages and the app feels amazing
In future can maybe add deep linking for the necessary pages as well…
Can’t wait for the beta to get rolled out

[rimskii] I was on competition in Uzbekistan, well we couldnt get the place but the experience was fun!
therefore, I couldnt do much from my side
Only tweaked with troi, did some research on it (to run export locally)

Last week I was on holiday and did very little, other than hammocking, chilling by the sea and on lakes and the like in Estonia
Now I’m trying to catch up (for example, it seems derat has done a ton while I was away!) and should be back to work fully from tomorrow

[yellowhatpro] I’m mostly done with the actual code part, so working on making the project a better one for others to work with, and then there are tests
currently working on scripts to make the tests possible in CI. they will come also come in handy in unit/integration tests , as I’m using them as fixtures.

Docker Compose

Since @yvanzo is away he asked if I can take it - didn’t leave the exact details, but
I think the question is just to make sure we’re okay with “Would it be OK to announce dropping support for Docker Compose v1 in mirrors in 3 months from now (Nov 18)?”
1I’m expecting the only person who could have something against it would be lucifer or mayhem maybe. And one is off.
But consider this a reminder: if you’re against this idea, please do let us know : )

Docker Compose

As initially proposed two weeks ago, and briefly discussed last Tuesday, we agreed on migrating to Docker Compose v2 in two steps:

• Development setup should fully move to Docker Compose v2 as soon as possible - most of MetaBrainz projects moved half way already.
• Dropping support for Docker Compose v1 in MusicBrainz mirrors should be announced 3 months ahead, through our blog and social media as usual.
