[mailed in] Just staying on top of the usual duties this week.
As part of that I try to keep the userscripts wiki page updated, and recently made updates to a couple of related pages. This is the full trio: Making sure you're not a bot! / Making sure you're not a bot! / Making sure you're not a bot!
I refer to them v. often, so I assume others do too, and I took a bit of time to table-fy them all recently.
Apart from that… I sent this update on Friday because I am on hooooooliday! I didn’t even bring the laptop :-0 So hopefully I am on a beach right now. See you all next week!

looking into some listenbrainz user things, testing and I made a couple of tickets… also I’m working on setting up work environment, so soon I will be doing tickets again!
it looks like I’m not doing much, but I was out all day and also saturday and friday, tomorrow is another day of STUFF : D

Last week I looked into MBS-6741 which turned out to be a lot trickier than it sounds
[MBS-6741: Include subdivision and country in the webservice when returning an area]
I also finally merged a big eslint PR which should make our future code nicer!
Plus a bunch of small things, such as MBS-13682
[MBS-13682: Add language filter to Works tab]
I also updated the timeline with more events, including the hiring of a bunch of you
And blocked using more invisible characters as edit notes, because people sometimes suck. Invisibly.
Plus the usual support and community bits

Last week, I mostly spent time on the MusicPlayer UI for BrainzPlayer.
Other than that, I worked on some tickets and upgraded Sentry on LB
And reviewed GSoC PRs. And also spent time on researching about LB-1596.

[rimskii] well for the last week couldnt do much, unfortunately
However, I did finish my mentoring program, got accepted into a Huawei competition, and even flew back home!
starting from this day I am working on changes on some of my PRs
finally started working on exporting functions for apple and soundcloud, for now doing it at troi. Hopefully, I can finished them for both since they are pretty similar

[Jade] This week I updated the individual send API to be consistent with the bulk send API
I fixed the panics I’d run into when I was developing the bulk send API
I refactored to use the config crate for more consistent / centeralised configuration
And updated the docs with the new env variable names
Added a new template for password reset emails
And added support for nested keys in mf1, like…

The last thing I did was updating all the templates I’ve done so far to make use of that

So the wiki / MB docs issue is that we don’t handle timeouts very well (404s), and the VM was very slow (so leading to timeouts)
I filtered out a lot of useless traffic (mainly from bots) on the wiki VM, dividing CPU usage by 4-5, so the problem should happen much less often
apart that, I upgraded openresty (on gateways), discourse, grafana, reviewed Picard PRs
and usual supervision, MB edits.

last week I kept working on improving the image processing performance for Picard
i’m still trying to make it multithreaded but ran into some issues
so now i’m working on a more general approach that can be used for other stuff

Last week I decided to make the current BB importer setup more battle-proofed before I am going break everything again with the schema change (which combines the BBID lookup table of all regular entities with the imports’ table).
For testing I added a simple command to the BBIQ (import queue) CLI which lets you queue JSON files with import data directly and produced a few files with testdata.
It proved to be more useful than I expected because the testdata allowed me to find quite a few issues which went unnoticed while I was working with the OpenLibrary author parser only.
Now at least works and edition groups have been succesfully tested as well (editions unfortunately depend on a mandatory edition group BBID).
Adding the missing support for annotations on imports even required a small schema change (because they had a required “last revision” attribute which is not applicable for imported entities).
I am almost done with the possible tests and will soon be breaking everything ; )

Last week I worked more on the release editor, fixed a beta regression related to submitting release labels, and worked on reviving a caching related patch I had to help with [pull 3334] (which still needs more work)

[yellowhatpro] Last week I worked on the archival part of the IA url service.
Specifically the retry logic, and the status check
It’s working fine, just need a couple of logical validation
Apart from it, tried integrating sentry in the project
Feels nice to see the panic on the sentry dashboard
Implementation can still be alot better, so trying to make the overall code more error resilient

Last half-time week, I reviewed PRs, updated beta.mb.o & test.mb.o.
Plus usual GSoC mentoring, SEC reviews, and support.

[mayhem] last week I played travel agent, trying to book tickets and hotels for the mentor summit, while our bank was blocking us (they say they didn’t) and then they crashed on friday. lots of fun.
did some PR review for rimskii and ericd and LB in general.
started picking up work on lb-radio and discovered a lot of stuff in troi is broken and needs fixing. so doing that first.
I should be around all this week, but next week hardly at all, since I’ll be hiking in the pyrenees. week after that will be scant too, I’ll be in the UK, but I’ll be online for bits each day.

Last week I reviewed a couple of PRs, looked into improving speed of the spark cluster and did some performance testing of a proposed solr server for ListenBrainz.
