[mailed in] I mostly just investigated a few issues related to showing localized primary aliases for [MBS-7646: Show alias next to entity name in search and relations] (thanks to @chaban for reporting these!). I fixed a server error when viewing artist collections [MBS-13570: Beta: ISE in artist collections] and looked at various other places where aliases aren’t yet shown.
I’m not sure how feasible it is to load them in a generalized way, so they’ll probably be limited to where they’re currently shown for now unless someone else starts working on this.
I also did some work on the yambs seeder (e.g. checkbox to use beta.musicbrainz.org, porting the UI code to TypeScript, support for open.qobuz.com and play.qobuz.com) and released a new version.

[mailed in] Last week, I released a double hotfix for MB Server to fix both mirror and cache issues.
Learned the good news that all the projects selected by MetaBrainz for GSoC have been accepted.
A fair number of other projects have not been selected to not outnumber the available mentors.
Thanks to everyone who wants to contribute, and congratulations to the accepted GSoCers.
Delivered some missing translations on test.mb.o through a workaround.
Last, indexed the main MB database into the new SolrCloud 9 instance.
Not much otherwise besides a bit of support and PR reviews.
Hopefully focusing all my attention again on next Monday’s release[s].

[mailed in] [mayhem] Last week was some gsoc work, emails, and the usual nonsense of running meb.
On the technical side I started exploring festival playlists and created to sonar Barcelona 2024 event with to goal of making a discovery playlist to go with it.
I also reviews some PRs and more other stuff, but hard to remember on account of not feeling well.

[mailed in] First, I’m really happy to have been accepted for GSoC! I can hardly wait : )
I’m back at uni for my summer term exams, which means I’ll have to email in my review and catch up after the meeting : (
I’ve submitted #3256 for [MBS-13263: Add a blank space before Release titles without cover art in RGs]
Otherwise I’ve just been enjoying my birthday and the bank holiday ![]()

[mailed in] Did a bit of keeping on top of socials + posting re. GSoC.
Had a dig to refresh myself on [MBS-13395: Move documentation from the wiki to ReadTheDocs]
In last week’s episode of “aerozol’s personal life” Lucy-Belle came home after her two month hike/pilgrimage in Japan! 1200km + walked ![]()
[@reosarevok: “That’s a lot of km, after all that, even aerozol is probably not so much of a pain in comparison!”]

[mailed in] [MonkeyPython] have added [INST-912: Mizwad] and I will be closing [INST-924: Zukra] soon too…
this one is difficult because it’s confused with the previous instrument, but it’s also the name of a shawm/oboe like that’s similar to an instrument we already have mijwiz (which it is also mixed with) and also clunked together with the general term (see the instrument mezwed)
I don’t there is enough info to add that one so it’ll be put on not fix for now probably.
don’t think there is
also looked at some weird translation issues!
finally, This month is gonna be HELLA busy so I’m taking a vacation after the blogpost I’m writing asap! stay tuned for more shenanigans : D

And a couple of minor bug fixes.

[quote = “mr_monkey”]
[monkey] Short week for me. I worked on the single-page application with ansh and we deployed to beta, found bugs, fixed some, working on others
Also worked on some related refactoring of component
And some PR reviews for BookBrainz
And took some time off to take care of my wife who got surgery. Semi-available only this week too.
Good luck to everyone who has exams coming up !

Last week I gave an hand to atj on new solr cluster performance testing, we identified a bunch of issues we’ll work on this week
Also spent quite a lot of time on Picard refactoring (pulse says On master, 94 files have changed and there have been 160,715 additions and 153,434 deletions. )
I’m continuing on this this week, trying to refactor core elements we couldn’t break til now (Picard 3 is a major version change)
I deployed updated certicates for
*.metabrainz.org today
plus usual supervisionn, user support, sys upgrades, etc…
[/quote]
[quote = “atj”]
Last week I continued working on load testing the new Solr cluster
tested various different scenarios and tweaked a lot of settings, with assistance from zas
lots more still to do but now we have are indexing from prod the testing will be much more representative

Last week I majorly worked on some fixes related to SPA which were reported by the community.
I also worked on refactoring the user stats components to cache the queries to reduce API rate limit errors.
And spent some time on refactoring more components to support BrainzPlayer continuous playback and reviewing PRs.
I have my end semester exams starting this week, so I won’t be much active this week.

last week I finished writing the PG v16 upgrade script and did schema change testing
found a few small issues including a dbmirror compilation error which are fixed
will test things on a clone of the production DB this week and start writing the final upgrade notes

after a period of limited time I got back to work more on Picard again.
Helped reviewing zas’ many refactorings and worked on improvements of Picard’s oauth implementation. This will ease moving to the new MeB oauth provider once it is ready.

[quote = “kellnerd”]
Hi, I am officially back as a GSoC student to this meeting (yay!)
but I still have the same non-GSoC stuff to report : P
Last week I finished the most important parts of my work on a stable version of Harmony.
I finished the MBID caching logic, made rate limiting of all API requests stricter and improved the Bandcamp importer.
Also learnt about SVG sprites while adding provider icons to the web interface ![]()
Next step is to invite a few more people to test it before making the server and the code public.
Probably it will take another week to get started with my GSoC project.

Last week I finished our migration of eslint configuration to their new system and the review of all the rules they offer. I also worked on the Spanish translation, started updating our flow typing, fixed a few small bugs, dealt with ban-evading asshats, and more of the usual
And tested a few things we need for the schema change
This week is more schema change, and also I’m hoping to copy JadedBlueEyes and finish the week with a birthday and a bank holiday
Unless there’s urgent schema change messes to deal with, but hopefully not : )
