Is music brainz in sync with digital distribution ?
I put this question because new releases on spotify (eg Lorenzo Fragola “Zero Gravity”) are not present on Music Brainz db.
No, not really. All of our data is entered by our users. Some of those are corporate users; for example, MusixMatch has (or has had) a paid editor adding new releases as they needed them. But there’s no direct ingestion of label data, partially because almost nobody has really offered it to us so far, and partially because we don’t really trust label data enough to just insert it without human checking (we’ve seen pretty messy data sometimes coming from feeds).
