Need someone more experienced than me for fixing error

A 2003 live recording was probably wrongly merged with this release

Nothing to win except my gratitude.

Fixed - but the release it came from needs a lot of work: Release “The Bootlegs, Volume 1: Celebrating 35 Years at First Avenue” by Various Artists - MusicBrainz

Have also added disambigs to all the tracks now… a quick check show no other bad links. Hard to spot when the error first happened in the edit history.

When you spot errors like this, you are free to dive in and fix them yourself. If you need help double checking or speeding a fix through post in the Request for Votes thread and someone is likely to help speed the edits up if it can be seen to be legit

Thanks a lot ! I’m not confident enough for this for now

Dive in, do some edits, make mistakes, get shouted at, fix mistakes, learn new tricks.

Always best way to do things. It is the only way I learnt to do anything round here. :joy:

My main advantage as an AE is I don’t have to wait for these edits to go through. But basically all I did was go into the bogus release (easy to spot as length was 4:14) and Edit the Release then re-attached that wrong Recording to a new Recording.

Then go to the original recording and delete the stuff that should not be there.

Also because I always get way too tidy I also added disambiguation to it to stop someone else from making the same mistake.

That is not “too tidy”. That is bloody good sense to avoid a whack-a-mole game of merge-split-merge-split with such recordings. Add in annotation as well, I’d say.

Agree, I should have been more clear on - totally vital need to make live recordings stand out. Its why I added the disambig to all the tracks on that release even though I have no idea what it was.

I was just being gentle with the new editor.
