Merge artist who no longer uses a performance name

Trying to figure out if these should be merged, or just remain as is (and be slightly confusing?)

John Floreani has an artist entry at John Floreani - MusicBrainz, used for when he has featured on other artist’s tracks. There’s a second one at John Floreani - MusicBrainz, from when his solo project was known as Little Brother, which would have made sense at the time.

Since then, he’s dropped the Little Brother name and just releases his solo music under his name. Not a new project, effectively just dropping the performance name.

Would you merge these two, or keep them separate (and if so, which artist entry would you use for the new music)? I’m thinking merge and leave releases from when he went as Little Brother with that credit, but I want to see what others think.

Definitely not as is - Edit #62200626 - MusicBrainz left things messy.

Either keep them separate and revert that edit + move John Floreani credits to the other entry + add an ended ‘performs as’ relationship, or merge them and have the former performance name as an ended alias.

Whether to choose one or the other depends on whether they are two names for the same ‘project’ or a separate persona.

To me this looks more like a single artist releasing acoustic music under the ‘Little Brother’ name.
No indication of band or a separate project.
I would merge them.

From what I can tell, it was effectively just a name used for solo work to try and keep it a bit more separate from his role in Trophy Eyes, but it’s still him. It was only used early on too (changed to using his name in 2019, thanks @Jormangeud for finding that), so I think merging is the better answer here.

I’ll make that edit at some point and confirm what releases should be under what names and make corrections if needed.
