This release is currently listed as 3 CDs but is actually 6 CDs, packaged with three double CD jewel cases inside a box. The titles currently given to each medium apply to each pair of CDs.
If I split this into 6 CDs, how should the medium titles be styled?
I agree that apply the audiobook track style-guideline is most sensible, and it is essentially what I’ve done in the past.
@gregrs, if you follow the guideline for tracks and use quotation marks, I would suggest using them on all media for consistency, not just on volumes that are split across media. Notice that the quotation marks go around the volume title, but not , Part 2. My opinion (which is not a guideline) is that sometimes the quotation marks are redundant or excessive. Rightly or wrongly, I’ve left them out of medium titles whenever I felt that they looked noisy or messy, and no clarity was lost.
I see that the tape numbers in the cassette release are relative to the volume, not to the entire box set (example). If the CD edition does the same, I think it would be acceptable to use Disc 2 instead of Part 2.
One other small issue I see in the medium titles: The “Mrs.” in the title of CD 2 should be probably be “Mrs”, as that’s the British English convention, but use “Mrs.” if it’s printed that way on the physical media.
Thanks all. I’ve made the edits. Went for adding ‘, Disc n’ to the end of the release titles as this seemed to make more sense than ‘Part’.
Quotation marks for tracks seemed excessive since stories are not split across tracks for this release.
@sibilant Your final sentence seemed to finish prematurely. What was the point you were intending to make about ‘Mrs.’? The release packaging includes full stops after character titles (Mr. and Mrs.) so I’ve kept those as I couldn’t find a style guide that suggested otherwise.
