I was never a big fan of those massive amount of credit roles on bookogs. And now for the import to bookbrainz it will be necessary to get deeper into this. There are 465 roles defined in bookogs and they need to match to 32 roles here. Some rare things like “Audience Development Director” or “Health Editor” might be not so important and can even be removed.
A simple approach would be to put all the information in the annotation field and reassociate them manually during checking the import. But then we will have a lot of orphaned authors and publishers in the database. So maybe an automated association could help to make the import easier. Below listed are all roles from bookogs and a first try to match to bookbrainz roles. My current idea will combine a lot of roles into one relation (e.g. editors, copyright). I don’t know if this is the best idea, as detailed information will be lost. But as stated above having 465 roles again would not be my favourite solution too. I wonder what the opinion of the other members will be.
To continue, it would be very kind, if I get some help on those matches, as some of the roles are not clear to me.
