Hi MetaBrainz team,
I’m curious if perhaps I’m missing something when trying to do indexed searches on my MusicBrainz mirror. Let’s say I want to just search for the track “Don’t dream it’s over” by Crowded House
If you do an indexed search for the string “Don’t Dream It’s Over”, a bunch of different results come back that aren’t the canonical original release. Is there an easy way to rank these by popularity, or filter to original releases only?
Take the counter example, where you type “dont dream” in spotify and the one you want is already the first result.
I tried looking myself and seeing if this has been handled before, but I couldn’t find a definitive answer. Basically it seems trying to make the most user-friendly search field with the MusicBrainz API is difficult because there’s just too much data! ![]()
